Score 92/100 · Drink 2026-2036, Neal Martin, Jun 2024
The 2022 Pouilly-Fuissé Les Brulés 1er Cru marks a return for this cuvée as the previous vintage was deemed too small (2hl/ha!) to bottle separately (this was partly due to the season and partly due to part of the vineyard being uprooted). The soil here is deep marn and 100% oak fermented. It has an attractive bouquet with citrus fruit and hints of praline and almond and is well-defined and focused. The palate is well-balanced with great depth and counterbalancing acidity, quite Chassagne in style. The 2022 is complex on the finish, with menthol and chamomile developing in the glass. Give this 12 months in bottle, and you will have a fine and comparatively rare Pouilly-Fuissé.
