Tasting notes
(from a north-facing site in Vergisson; this wine, the only one here to receive a late bottling, begins in small barrels and is then racked with its lees into stainless steel in July for another six months of aging): Pale, light yellow. Lively aromas of spiced apple and flowers. Juicy and intense, offering terrific definition and inner-mouth lift to its mineral-driven flavors of lemon, flowers and spices. This is just the second vintage for this wine, from 40+-year-old vines on argilo-calcaire soil. Caroline Gon noted that the soil is deep here but that the vines' roots extend into the mother rock. Very spicy and bright on the aftertaste.

The 2015 Pouilly-Fuissé is matured in barrels from Comtes-Lafon and comes mainly from vines in Vergisson (it will be supplemented by another hectare for 2016 onward). It has a pleasant, slightly nutty bouquet with touches of honeysuckle, although I would like more mineralité to come through. The palate is well balanced with fine acidity, fresh and vibrant, but it just needs more personality, something to say. As Dominique commented, "We are still finding our way" and, in that respect, I would not disagree.
