Score 91/100 · Drink 2004-2010, Pierre Rovani, Feb 2004

The medium-bodied and silky-textured, spice, talcum powder, and limestone-scented 2002 Pouilly-Fuisse Vers Cras is an outstanding wine. Its fleshy, creamed, chalk, pear, toast, apple, and mineral-flavored personality is supple, velvety, rich, and yet fresh. This highly expressive wine should be drunk over the next 6 years. Lively, sweet, and floral. Satiny. Too expensive. (JR)

(from a fairly flat vineyard featuring a high percentage of chalk) Bright yellow. High-toned aromas of tangerine, orange, clove and honey, with hints of oak and more exotic fruits. Rich, supple and smooth, with nicely integrated acidity. Still a bit youthfully aggressive in the mouth and on the rich, ripe, lingering finish. A more traditional, elegant, minerally style than several of the foregoing 2002s. Here the alcohol is a moderate 13. 5%.
