The 2020 Beaune Clos des Mouches 1er Cru has a crisp nose with redcurrant, blueberry and light licorice scents. It's not complex, but maybe just a little warmth comes through. The palate is medium-bodied with a savory entry, gritty tannins, dark berry fruit laced with licorice and rather austere towards the finish. Like some other Beaune Premier Crus, it lacks Pinoté and transparency on the finish. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2020 Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Mouches is layered and velvety, exhibiting aromas of sweet red berries, rose petals, orange rind and cinnamon. Medium to full-bodied, lively and layered, it concludes with a long, perfumed finish.
