The 2016 Pouilly-Fuissé Vignes Blanches is stunning, offering up a classy bouquet of crisp green apple, Anjou pear and fragrant citrus fruits, with touches of nutmeg and beeswax on the upper register. Ample, glossy and full-bodied, it's wonderfully pure and intense, with striking mid-palate depth and dimension and, above all, an almost electric sense of energy that marries beautifully with its more dramatic, textural elements. It is a remarkable wine that would embarrass many grands crus from Puligny-Montrachet in a blind tasting.
