Tasting notes
The 2018 Mâcon-Chardonnay Clos de la Crochette is showing nicely, offering up a pretty bouquet of crisp orchard fruit, white flowers, blanched almonds and mint. Medium to full-bodied, elegantly textural and incisive, it's precise and mineral, with bright acids, a delicate core of fruit and chalky grip on the finish.

Clay-limestone soil. South-facing and their earliest-ripening site even though it’s way north of Milly-Lamartine and a little north of Uchizy, because it’s at a lower elevation. Monopole of 3 ha (around 7 acres). Bottled. Creamy, lively lemon fruit with a fine dry texture. Super-fresh, both stony and fruity at the same time. Greengages. Taut, juicy and utterly drinkable. (JH)
