The 2021 Pouilly-Fuissé Clos des Prouges might not be a Premier Cru, but it is treated like one by the winemaking team. Nevertheless, it doesn't fully engage on the nose as much as the Clos de Jeanne. It's tightly knit and stoic at the moment. The palate is better with fine weight. It's fresh and malic in style, with a bright Granny Smith and yellow plum-infused finish. The 2021 ends on a high note.
Cask sample. Big and bold. Rather sweet start. Flattering with density and a real framework. Stylistically very different from the Côte d’Or. Sweeter and simpler. (JR)
The 2021 Pouilly-Fuissé Clos des Prouges has a well-defined bouquet with lemon verbena and light sea spray aromas. The palate is well-balanced with fine acidity, moderate depth, though maybe it just does not quite kick on at the finish like the previous two vintages. Eight barrels produced instead of the usual 24 or 26.
