Aromas of Anjou pear, white flowers, fresh peach and warm pastry introduce the 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru La Garenne, a medium to full-bodied ample and enveloping wine, with a textural attack that segues into a core of succulent fruit underpinned by lively acids. This has turned out well.
Barrel sample. Mealy/leesy citrus, both fruity and savoury at the moment. Hint of clementine scent. Power and depth here but the barrels have given a creamy roundness. Long, crisp finish. Mouth-watering and promising greater complexity. (JH)
