Score 89-91/100 · Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Jul 2019

The 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin Cherbaudes 1er Cru is the most tannic and brooding of the Gevrey 1er Crus in this range. It is also going to need the most time to fully unwind from its presently shut down state. Time in the glass brings out attractive red/purplish fruit, but the 2017 is not really in the mood to show much more than that. Although decidedly virile, the Cherbaudes remains very much in the realm of the mid-weight style of the year.
