Exhibiting aromas of pear, crisp melon, freshly baked bread, waxy citrus rind and iodine, Ferret's 2020 Pouilly-Fuissé Tête de Cru Les Perrières is medium to full-bodied, textural but chiseled, with a racy spine of acidity and a taut, mineral profile. As ever, it will demand a bit of patience.

The 2020 Pouilly-Fuissé Les Perrières 1er Cru, which comes from more clay soils, matured in 25% new oak, is finely-tuned on the nose, well-defined with citrus peel, yellow plum and light honeysuckle scents, a hint of chamomile emerging with time. The palate is well-balanced with a fine spine of acidity, one of more "nutty" cuvées from Ferret with a fine touch of bitterness lending tension on the finish. Fine.

Jadot bought the domaine about 8 years ago from a widow with no one to take over the domaine. Winemaker is married to the winemaker at Ch des Jacques. Cellar rebuilt. Subtle, stony citrus nose but also some ripe yellow fruit mixed in. Creamy, mealy, vibrant citrus. A good balance between dusty/mineral and ripe fruit. Extremely fresh and a nice chalky texture on the finish. (JH)

The 2020 Pouilly-Fuissé Les Perrières 1er Cru has a very focused, almost steely bouquet, beautifully defined with neatly integrated oak. White flowers emerge with time in the glass. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity and wonderful salinity with a vibrant and energetic finish. I cannot wait to taste the finished wine.
