Tasting notes
The 2019 Château des Quarts is the joint venture between Olivier and Corinne Merlin and Dominique Lafon after they bought the estate in 2012. The soil here is deep clay that engenders a more powerful wine that Merlin compared to Chablis. It does have a very powerful bouquet with yellow plum, orange pith, white chocolate and chamomile. The palate is very well balanced with a slightly honeyed opening and a fine bead of acidity. Hints of stem ginger and lemongrass on the finish fan out wonderfully. Excellent.

The 2019 Pouilly-Fuissé Clos des Quarts has turned out nicely, offering up aromas of pear, orange oil, peach and white flowers. Medium to full-bodied, layered and fleshy, with a textural attack and a bright core of fruit, it's pretty and charming.
