Tasting notes
The 2019 Ried Gaisberg Kammern 1ÖTW Kamptal Grüner Veltliner is intense and aromatic on the concentrated and aromatic yet also fresh and herbal nose, which reveals perfectly ripe white and yellow fruit aromas that seem to be kissed by fully ripe Riesling berries. Rich and juicy on the palate, with crystalline acidity and precise and elegant fruit, the Kammerner Gaisberg is Hannes Hirsch's most complex and terroir-driven Veltliner and most of all a really excellent wine. The finish is intense and finely tannic, with right amount of juiciness. 13% alcohol. Tasted at Schloss Gobelsburg in June 2021.

Crystalline rocks. Screwcap. Focused combination of herbal and citrus aroma, plus a stony/mineral note. A little bit fumy as if it had been spontaneously fermented. Spicy and ripe on the palate. Powerful and long. Needs time. Acidity seems on the low side, but perhaps that is just the richness of fruit and there's no lack of freshness. (JH)
