Score 93/100 · Drink 2020-2027, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Aug 2018

Notes of crisp green orchard fruit, lemon oil, iodine and crushed rocks introduce the 2015 Pouilly-Fuissé Tête de Cru Les Perrières, a medium to full-bodied, tensile wine with a satiny attack, considerable depth and concentration at the core and a chalky, quasi-phenolic finish. Of all Ferret's wines in 2015, it's the cuvée with the most palpable mineral presence.

Pale, bright yellow. The reticent nose hints at exotic yellow fruits. At once rich and juicy, and quite different in texture from the Clos des Prouges, showing a racier quality and more definition to its intense flavors of orange zest, spices and savory minerality. This is more my style. Boasts lovely controlled sweetness for a dry wine and holds its shape nicely on the long finish. This wine is balanced to give early pleasure and to last well. And as ripe as it is, it avoids the extremes of the vintage.

(these vines are situated a bit higher on the hill than Le Clos des Prouges, turning more toward the southeast; the soil here features a top layer of clay over calcaire ; aged in 25% new oak in 2015, like Le Clos and Clos des Prouges): Pale yellow. Yellow fruits and spices on the nose. A step up from the Clos des Prouges in thickness of texture but with surprisingly firm acidity to frame and energize the ripe peach flavor. Fatter than the Clos des Prouges but without quite that wine's lift. All of these wines display slightly exotic soft citrus elements but they are distinctly more vibrant than the Ferret wines made here prior to the purchase of this estate in 2008 by Louis Jadot.
