Score 91/100 · Drink 2016-2025, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Aug 2016

The 2014 Chablis 1er Cru Les Vaudevey has quite an intense nose that offers scents of mango, citrus fruit, shaved almond and just a hint of white chocolate. That descriptors makes it sound more exotic that it actually is; this is delineated and not overpoweringly "flashy". The palate is well balanced with a fine line of acidity, plenty of citrus fruit, lemon rind and Granny Smith apples that segue into a more stony and reserved finish, which nevertheless lingers nicely in the mouth. This an excellent Les Vaudevey from Laroche.

Perfumed and savoury – a good combination. Lighter on fruit than some – very much a traditional, restrained style of Chablis. (RH)

(about 30% oak): Pale yellow. Lemon, lime, crushed herbs and ginger on the classic Chablis premier cru nose. Dense, supple and ripe, with white peach and mineral flavors lifted by a gingery high note. Conveys a strong taste of white limestone in a cool site. Not a powerful style but dense and saline, displaying concentrated minerality and noteworthy persistence.

(bottled in January; aged in 25% old oak; from fruit harvested on September 26): Pale yellow. Pure, high-pitched aromas of lemon, pineapple, yeasty bread and truffle. Lemony and brisk, with white peach, pineapple and metallic flavors communicating excellent citricity and cut. This energetic wine from white limestone would be perfect with delicate river fish.
