Light nose that gives just the merest suggestion of the move towards wet wool. Good positive ageing Chablis flavours on the palate and a very round satisfying texture. Good green fruit freshness and real presence in the mouth. Juicy finish. It does build towards quite a satisfactory finish. Not the most cutting precise Chablis but certainly authentic. (JR)

The 2011 Chablis Les Vaudevey is one of the more reticent wines in the range. Today, it is the wine's intense minerality that seems to dominate. Grapefruit, crisp green pears and crushed rocks emerge over time, but ultimately the 2011 needs more time before the full breadth of its personality is ready to emerge from the bottle. Still, there is plenty of potential here.

(these were the last grapes picked in 2011, on September 24): Scented aromas of lemon, lime, crushed stone, gunflint and flowers. Rich, creamy and fairly full, but with good inner-mouth tension and sappiness to the stone fruit flavors. Just a tad aggressive and phenolic on the back end, but very Chablis in its expression of powdered stone, white pepper and chalk. "From very ripe grapes in a cold village," notes Viennois. This wine put on weight during its final months of elevage and will be even better when it loses a bit of its baby fat.

Riper than the basic Chablis, but not fully realising the full premier cru potential. Invigorating but not captivating. (RH)
