Medium yellow with a faint green tinge. Captivating aromas of lemon, lime, apricot, nectarine, white truffle, porcini, toast, hazelnut and coffee; long on personality. A fine-grained, classically dry, silky midweight with terrific inner-mouth minerality and lift (I would never have guessed that this wine was technically low in acidity). At once more mineral-driven and more citrussy than the 2006, this wine is about balance and finesse, not power. Perhaps a bit more complex on the nose than on the palate but I'm quibbling. A particularly elegantly styled Clos des Mouches with excellent energy: there's no rush to drink this. Another strong performance from a cooler vintage. (45 h/h; 3.46 pH; 3.6 g/l acidity)

Reticent but pure aromas of nectarine, nutmeg, earth and nutty oak. Broad, spicy and rich, with the stone fruit and nutmeg notes carrying through in the mouth. Quite dry but with good buffering volume. This boasts lovely life in the mouth and a smooth, strong finish.

Fascinating aromas reminded me of a gruner veltliner smaragd: pineapple, snap pea, pepper and spices. Very spicy and very ripe, with a strong pineapple flavor. Full, slowly mounting finish turns a bit metallic and tight on the back, with a peppery nuance. Wonderfully complex soil-inflected wine.
