Tasting notes

Tasting notes
Score 90/100 · Drink 1992-1999, Robert Parker, Feb 1992

Because the first bottle I tasted exhibited an odd off aroma, the 1989 Beaune-Clos des Mouches was tasted three times. The other two bottles were boldly flavored and rich, with a honeyed texture, as well as gobs of flinty, buttery fruit. Drink it over the next 5-7 years. In such a potentially blockbuster vintage, it was probably difficult for Drouhin to produce his normally restrained, understated style of burgundy. In some of his offerings, the intensity, opulence, and luxurious fruit of the vintage comes through, while in others, those characteristics are muted and subtle. Importer: Dreyfus Ashby and Co., New York, NY.
