The 2023 Chablis Fourchaume 1er Cru has a pretty bouquet with crushed stone and sea cave scents unfolding in the glass. It has aromatics that you might ascribe to a cooler vintage. The palate is well balanced with touches of peach skin and spice, but it loses focus midway and finishes lacking direction and tension. This is not bad overall, but it's not the best in show. Tasted blind at the BIVB offices in Chablis.
