A cuvée reserved for the UK from a small but very famous vintage. When Churchill died in 1965 this was his house wine. (He wanted the 1945 but apparently there was none left.) Disgorged in 1981. Deep, slightly brownish pale copper colour. Dry but dense. A very exciting wine still that is long and reverberant but is just starting its slide into old age. Such a treat to taste this. (JR)
