Tasting notes
For Charles' second vintage, the 2024 Griotte-Chambertin from Domaine des Chézeaux is an excellent expression of this rare and noble Grand Cru, marrying fruity purity with striking elegance. The nose is beautifully lifted and fresh, opening on vibrant cherry fruit, both red and black layered with floral nuances and a subtle crayon à mine minerality that speaks clearly of its terroir. On the palate, the wine is poised and cultured, offering a satiny texture and a deep yet graceful core of fruit. There is a sense of quiet intensity and refinement throughout, with fine acidity carrying the flavors effortlessly. The finish is long and persistent, resonating with fresh cherry notes, mineral precision and understated power. A long, harmonious Griotte of class and balance, destined to evolve magnificently over time.

The 2024 Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru is more introverted on the nose than the Clos Saint-Denis, with a noticeable oyster shell scent in the background and a dab of Japanese wakame. The palate is medium-bodied, quite strict but well defined, citrus-fresh on the finish with blood orange on the aftertaste. It just fades a little quicker than the previous vintage.
About the producer

This Gevrey-Chambertin property was founded in 1982 but the vines were leased to other producers. As of 2021, that’s all changed, with Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat’s Charles van Canneyt and his wife Anne-Sophie having purchased the property. This is undoubtedly an address to watch.
