Tasting notes
Always terrific, the 2022 Gigondas La Tour Sarrasine is another incredibly Provençal, complex, satisfying wine from this estate. Red and black fruits, sandalwood, garrigue, and loads of spice define the aromatics, and it's medium-bodied, with the ripe, forward style of the vintage, soft tannins, and outstanding length. Drink bottles any time over the coming decade.

Delicate notes of dark cherries, violet and flowers preface the 2022 Gigondas La Tour Sarrasine, a moderately weighted, tense and bright Gigondas with well-integrated tannins and a vertical structure, concluding with an ethereal, delicate finish. This blend of 70% Grenache Noir, 15% Mourvèdre and the rest Syrah, all planted in granite, calcareous soils, was matured in a combination of stainless steel and concrete tanks.
70% Grenache, 15% Mourv è dre, 15% Syrah. Aged for 24 months in stainless-steel or concrete tanks. Tank sample. Tasted blind. A fresh nose with sweet spice and earthy notes. The palate is juicy, with firm tannins and a spiced clove note to the fruit. Lovely peppery and savoury notes combine with tinned red fruits and a layered, structured finish. (AC)
