Tasting notes
Earthy and spicy, the 2023 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vendange opens with aromas of herbs, tobacco and licorice. Dense and firmly structured, it shows a rather rigid, somewhat muted profile that lacks the elegance and energy one might hope for.

80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre. Aged in concrete tank (70%) and old barriques (30%). Cask/tank sample. Tasted blind. While being packed full of bright fruit there is also a savoury and herbal note alongside. A sappy mid palate and firm tannins give structure and direction, there is lovely purity and energy behind this wine. Needs plenty of time to come together but there is real zip and freshness here with that herbal note carrying through the finish. (AC)
Based on 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, and 10% Mourvèdre, the 2023 Châteauneuf Du Pape Vendange is slightly more classic in style, with a beautiful Provençal feel in its spicy red and black fruits, garrigue, and leather-like aromas and flavors. It's balanced, medium-bodied, has soft tannins, and tons of upfront charm and character.
Redolent strawberry, violets, rose petal, raspberry and garrigue notes set the stage for the 2023 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vendange, currently outperforming the Capelan from the same vintage. Crafted around ripe tannins, the full-bodied and concentrated 2023 ends with good freshness on the moderate-length finish.
