Score 89/100 · Drink 2003-2015, Robert Parker, Dec 2001

The 1999 Chateauneuf du Pape is a dark purple-colored effort exhibiting ripe aromas of black fruits intermixed with licorice and resiny notes. It possesses serious concentration, full body, powerful, concentrated flavors, and a strong finish with noticeable tannin, suggesting 2-3 years of cellaring is warranted. Anticipated maturity: 2003-2015. This is a joint effort between two of Chateauneuf du Pape's finest wine producers, Andre Brunel of Les Cailloux and Laurence Feraud of Pegau. It is an excellent offering that should be available for a realistic price. An American importer has not yet been chosen, but it will probably be either Robert Kacher Selections of Washington, DC, or Hand Picked Selections of Warrenton, VA.
