Tasting notes
The 2018 Vosne-Romanée La Croix Rameau 1er Cru was missing a little cohesion and fruité on the nose and seemed too understated when I tasted it at the domaine. Light tertiary/woodland scents filter through the light red fruit. The palate is nicely poised, with red cherries, wild strawberry and orange peel notes, and the acidity is well judged. Almost belatedly, the "mass" of this Premier Cru is to be found on the finish, where it exerts a gentle grip. A lovely, quite approachable Vosne-Romanée, but I wonder if it has the matière to age.
