Tasting notes
This is really aromatic with blackberries, dried earth, dried fruit, figs and walnuts. Full-bodied, round and delicious. Just the right amount of spices at the end. Excellent now.

This negociant blend assembled by the huge Dourthe firm is treated like a top classified growth in terms of selection, vinification, and upbringing. The 2003, while not quite as outstanding as the 2000 and 2001, is a seriously-endowed, dense ruby/purple-colored effort displaying classic notes of creme de cassis, smoky, toasty oak, and licorice. Rich, fleshy, and opulent, with low acidity, it can be drunk now and over the next decade. Sadly, there are only 500 cases. Importer: Dourthe USA, Manhasset, NY; scanam@cvbg.com ; +33 556 355 300
Blend of the best barrels from Dourthe's four properties dotted around Bordeaux's appellations. Thick and sweet and pretty impressive but I suspect it's too expensive (JR)
