The medium red colored 2019 Coteaux Champenois La Cote Aux Enfants is savory and ripe without weight. It reveals notes of red cherries, spiced plum, smoky wet stones, and graphite. Medium-bodied, it has a focused persistence and length, with a delicate astringency to its tannins, notable salinity, and a touch of savory bitterness on the close. In the cellar, it saw a third of the whole bunches in fermentation, which speaks to the spiciness evident in both its aromatic profile and its texture. Drink 2026-2040.

Bollinger’s 2019 Coteaux Champenois Aÿ Rouge La Côte aux Enfants was vinified with an appreciable proportion of stems, resulting in a slightly higher pH, and aged for eight months in mostly old oak barrels. It reveals a bouquet of red cherry and black plum, mingling with aromas of woodsmoke, spices and a subtle hint of game. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied and concentrated yet taut, with vibrant acidity and powdery tannins. The finish is perfumed and enduring, though it tends slightly toward the drier end of the spectrum.

The 2019 Coteaux Champenois La Côte aux Enfants is fabulous. Rich, ample and seductive, the 2019 is captivating right out of the gate. Succulent dark cherry, plum, new leather, spice, pomegranate and spice infuse the palate with tremendous depth. The 2019 exudes textural richness and intensity in all of its dimensions. Silky, polished contours wrap it all Together in style. Since 2015, this cuvée has had some stem inclusion - 33% In 2019.

A fascinating red with plums, berries and ripe strawberries. Iron shavings and hints of stems. Crushed stone. Medium- to full-bodied, with lovely minerality and spices at the end. Racy. Give this three to four years. But already delicious.
