The Syrah Las Madres Vineyard Esther Block always shows well, and the 2018 is no exception. Revealing a medium ruby/purple hue as well as Côte Rôtie-like notes of black raspberries, spring flowers, peppered game, and sappy underbrush, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a tight, sappy texture, ripe tannins, good acidity, and an excellent finish. It’s a rockingly good wine that needs 2-3 years of bottle age and will impress for over a decade.
