Full bottle just 1,215 g. RS 2.2 g/l, TA 7.7 g/l. Very intense, pungent nose – that's Achleiten, all right! So ripe it's almost peachy! But there is still the Achleiten mineral frame, too. Very easy to like, so long as you're not looking for Saar Riesling delicacy. Really fine and firm. But already most enjoyable. For now and for cellaring. Broad, open and winning. Pure Wachau and not over the top. (JR)

The 2024 Riesling Ried Achleiten Smaragd is made from vines planted in the 1950s, late 1950s and 1991 at different aspects facing east, south and west. It mixes fresh, scented green and yellow citrus notes with a delicious hint of flint. With more air, a slight element of yeast emerges. The palate is linear, elegant, bright and slender, and yes, this is indeed a Smaragd of exquisite elegance and sinuousness. Slowly, white peach and aromatic pale nectarine shine through. Exquisite.
