Score 91-94/100 · Drink 2008-2019, Robert Parker, Feb 2006
The 2004 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Vigneronne has a saturated ruby/purple color and superb purity of black raspberry and cherry fruit intermixed with some licorice, spice box, and earth. It is a layered, full-bodied wine with impressive definition, moderate tannin, and a persistent, long finish. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2019. Dark red color. Spicy, vibrant aromas of red berries and tobacco, lifted by a sense of minerality. Tangy and bright in the mouth, offering an array of red fruit tones and subtle, smoked meat. There's a complicating note of garrigue on the gentle, fine-grained finish.
