Tasting notes
The 2002 Brut Oenophile Maxi is a rich, round wine graced with impeccable purity in its peaches, apricots and flowers. This is a decidedly ripe, expressive and opulent style for Gimmonet. The wine offers notable expansiveness and a long, mineral-laced finish. The layered, round 2002 Brut Oenophile Maxi is gorgeous stuff. This cuvée is 35% Chouilly, 34% Cuis and 31% Cramant, and many of the wines are 40 years or older. Disgorged on May 12, 2009 with zero dosage.

(disgorged May 12, 2009) Light gold. Seductively perfumed bouquet displays scents of tangerine, orange zest, dusty minerals and honeysuckle, with notes of chamomile and anise adding complexity. Racy and finely etched citrus and pear flavors are braced by salty minerals and complemented by a deeper buttery note. The minerals echo strongly on the finish, which is pure, focused and extremely persistent. I'd bet on this non-dosed Champagne gaining depth, power and complexity for at least the next five or six years.
