1987 Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Crau

The 1987 comes across as skinny, even anorexic, when compared to the 1988 and 1989. It has decent fruit, an underlying, intense, vegetal, peppery streak, and finishes short on the palate. On its own, it is quite quaffable, but when you taste it in the company of the 1988 and 1989, it appears to be distinctly second-rate and uninteresting. Last tasted 3/93.
