Score 94/100 · Drink 2025-2040, Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, Dec 2022
The 2021 Ried Höhereck Riesling Smaragd shows a clear, elegant, finely spicy and mineral-fresh nose. Powerful and dense, but also full of tension on the palate, this Riesling is nowhere near as powerful as so many of its peers of the vintage. The finish is persistently salty, spicy and long. A remarkably complex Smaragd. Tasted at Schloss Dürnstein, Wachau, in September 2022.

Dürnstein. Cool and delicate aromas of stone and herbal accents. Apple and spice on the austere palate – refreshing, racy and cool. Here the power of the Smaragd shows not in the tropical ripeness but rather in the cool momentum pushing the boundaries of taste and time. (PS)
