Tasted blind at the annual “Burgfest” tasting in Brouilland. The 2013 Chablis 1er Cru Forets has a ripe, very topical bouquet that comes across as being quite commercial in style, clean and pure, but perhaps missing some of the complexity of its peers. The palate is better, taut and quite fresh with good depth, a toffee-ish finish shaving away some of the definition and edginess towards the finish. Not bad overall. Tasted May 2016.

Really quite concentrated – amazingly honeyed, so much so that it almost tastes lightly botrytised! It’s not typical Chablis but it’s an awfully attractive drink. Very long and approachable quite early. GV (JR)
