Score 94/100 · Drink 2020-2032, Jeb Dunnuck, Oct 2020

Based on 50% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre, and the rest a mix of permitted varieties, the 2018 Châteauneuf Du Pape Collection offers a classic bouquet of cedary spice, peppery garrigue, new leather, and both red and black fruits. Medium to full-bodied, pure, and seamless on the palate, it has gorgeous tannins, more mid-palate depth than most, and a great finish. I’d be happy to have bottles in the cellar and it’s going to drink nicely for 10-12 years.

The 2018 Châteauneuf Du Pape is 80% Grenache and 10% each of Syrah and Mourvèdre. Herbes de Provence, ground pepper, violets, and red and black currants all flow to a medium to full-bodied, round, supple, sexy wine that’s very much in the style of the vintage. My money is on it being an outstanding wine, and it’s going to drink nicely right out of the gate.
