(all concrete) Brilliant ruby-red. Fresh, spice-accented cherry and red berries on the perfumed nose. Silky, sweet and open-knit, with a spicy note adding back-end lift and cut to juicy raspberry and cherry flavors. Shows impressive clarity and floral lift on the finish, which is given shape by silky, even tannins.

The 2015 Vacqueyras is 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah and 5% each Cinsault and Mourvèdre. Aged entirely in concrete, it offers up pure, unadorned raspberry fruit. Medium to full-bodied, it shows the vintage's firm, muscular style, while hints of caramelized fruit and chocolate creep in on the finish.

I also loved the 2015 Vacqueyras Cuvée Tradition. A blend of 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, and the rest a mix of Mourvèdre and Cinsault, it has tons of ripe blackberry, plum, licorice, crushed rock and peppery goodness, full-bodied richness, terrific concentration and moderate tannin. It’s already impossible to resist but will keep through 2025.
