Tasting notes
I was able to taste two red cuvées from Domaine Durieu. Starting with the 2017 Châteauneuf Du Pape Lucile Avril, it offers a terrific bouquet of spiced cherries, kirsch, ground herbs, and loamy soil and earthy notes. Deep, beautifully textured, spicy, and meaty on the palate, it has full-bodied richness, polished, ripe tannins, and a great finish. It’s an incredibly Provençal, sexy, opulent Châteauneuf Du Pape to enjoy any time over the coming 10-15 years of more.

Mainly old-vine Grenache, with a sprinkling of Mourvèdre and Syrah, the 2017 Chateauneuf du Pape Lucile Avril features the cherry and stone-fruit notes of ripe Grenache. It's full-bodied and supple, even a bit creamy on the palate, finishing long and plush. It should drink well for at least 7-8 years.
