Score 88/100 · Drink 2007-2009, Jay S Miller, Wine Advocate, Feb 2007

The 2005 Caracol Serrano Joven is a blend of 50% Monastrell, 30% Syrah, and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, with the latter component spending 3 months in French and American oak. Dark ruby-colored, it has an expressive nose of earth, herbs, mushroom and garrigue, as well as ripe blackberries. This hedonistic effort has gobs of ripe fruit and spicy flavors in its surprisingly full-bodied personality. At the going price, this wine is a steal. Drink it over the next 1-2 years.
