Tasting notes
The 2021 Chardonnay Nine Yards is matured in 90% new oak with the remainder second fill, a barrel selection that always comes from one block on top of the hill at the estate. The new wood is deftly integrated on the nose, with hints of walnut and hazelnut, leaning slightly towards Meursault in style. The palate has a little oiliness on the entry, with notes of lime, grapefruit and nectarine, fanning out stylishly at the finish. Very fine, although switching between the two, I am taken by the nervosité of the Barrel Fermented Chardonnay.

The 2021 Nine Yards Chardonnay is broad, focused and luxurious and offers more complexity and weight than their regular range. It's a Chardonnay with excellent oak action and juicy, ripe green apples, sweet citrus and lemon pastry cream aromas. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is broadly textured with a delicious, leesy mouthfeel, and there's a bright and spicy finish. This delightful wine is sure to please New World Chardonnay drinkers. It rested for 10 months on the lees in 54% new French oak barrels. Just under 9,000 bottles were produced.
