Crous St Martin's 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape is 80% Grenache, with the balance split between Mourvèdre and Syrah. Aged in concrete and older barrels, it's full-bodied and creamy-ripe in texture, with notes of mixed cherries, cinnamon and mocha. It's supple and smooth from start to finish, but it should have the stuffing to age for a decade.

Cask sample. Soft, delicate fruit on the palate, reasonably light body and simple to finish. Successful as a more delicate style of Châteauneuf in 2016, but doesn't have a huge amount of flavour range. (RH)
