A new label for me, yet made by the team at La Ferme Du Mont, the 2016 Gigondas is a blend of Grenache and Mourvèdre, sourced from higher elevation limestone soils, that spent 20 months in old oak. Almost Bordeaux-like with its currants, tobacco and graphite aromas and flavor, it's balanced and medium to full-bodied on the palate, with good acidity and a pure, fresh, focused character. It’s going to benefit from short-term cellaring and have a decade of longevity.
