Full bottle 1,322 g.  More tannic and darker than the 2022. Blackcurrant, black cherry; taut sweetness; a tinge of elderberry bitterness, scorched-orange-peel fragrance, violets dancing somewhere on the top to the left out of sight. Firm, resolute, drying. Stunning discipline – you can feel and taste the execution of precision in every molecule. But you need to wait. (TC)

The 2023 Morgon Grand Cras is often one of Godard's strongest cards in her pack, though this vintage, I find a couple of other cuvées have the edge over it. All the same, the bouquet offers delectable blackberry, raspberry and dried violet petal aromas that gradually blossom in the glass. It certainly does not have the vigor of the 2022, yet this is very well delineated. The palate is medium-bodied with a velvety texture, impressive depth for this vintage and just a hint of white pepper and Szechuan pepper tingling on the aftertaste. This comes recommended.
