Bright medium red. Initially reticent, brooding nose opens to offer pungent cranberry and pomegranate scents complicated by spices and flowers. Plush and sweet, offering insidious fruit intensity; harmonious acidity frames the wine without intruding. This fine-grained wine strikes me as riper than the Chaignots. Finishes with very good length.

Bright crimson. Spiced dark-red fruit, more damson than cherry. Powder-fine tannins that are dry but not drying, and the freshness on the finish lifts the fruit. Moderate length. (JH)

Deep red with ruby highlights. Less fruity and more chocolatey and spicy on the nose than the Chaignots, even a bit exotic. Supple, sweet and complex on the palate, showing very good concentration to its flavors of dark fruits and aromatic spices. The premier crus from Nuits-Saint-Georges are aging in 35% to 40% new barrels in 2013, with some of the premier crus from farther north getting as much as 55%.
