Score 92/100 · Drink 2020-2024, Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate, Feb 2020
The 2017 Gold Reserve, a classical wine produced since 1993, is pure Alto Maipo Cabernet Sauvignon from old vines very close to Santiago and the Maipo River. It fermented in concrete vats with indigenous yeasts and matured in French oak barrels, 20% of which were new. This was always the powerful expression of Cabernet from Maipo, but the profile of the wine has changed toward more freshness nowadays. With only 13.5% alcohol and contained ripeness, this wine is medium-bodied, elegant and balanced, very pleasant and easy to drink. This is a departure from the previous vintages I've tasted. 5,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in November 2019.
