Tasting notes
Situated outside the winery in Vertus, Le Grand Clos is a true walled clos planted mostly to Chardonnay on the deeper soils of this part of the village. It yields a gastronomic, Burgundian style of blanc de blancs amplified through characterful oak vinification. There are appealing, sweet-toned barrel aromatics of jasmine and tonka bean, with ripe caramelised pineapple and sweet orange citrus finding a rounded, almost decadent ripeness on the palate that closes with a touch of balancing grip. With only 1,788 bottles made, collectors interested in Champagne's newest clos bottling will find plenty of interest.

This powerful, rich blanc de blancs is toasty and buttery, showing apricots, toasted brioche, white chocolate, salted butter and nutmeg on the nose. Lemon meringue pie, too. It's compact and creamy on the palate, very intense, yet minerally and salty at the same time. Long and concentrated. The first separate bottling of this single vineyard in Vertus. 1,788 bottles made. 100% chardonnay vinified in oak. 2 g/L dosage. Disgorged March 2025. Drink or hold.
