Deep garnet-purple colored. Charges out with ready-to-go notes of fresh black plums and black raspberries, giving way to hints of forest floor, rose bud tea, and graphite. The light to medium-bodied palate is racy and lightly chewy with delicate fruit flavors and a lifted finish.
The 2024 Les Griffons de Pichon Baron is the more structured of Pichon's two second wines, revealing notes of dark berries, cigar wrapper and loamy soil, followed by a medium-bodied, taut and chalky palate.
The 2024 Les Griffons de Pichon Baron is redolent of blackberry, incense, licorice, scorched earth, tobacco and dried herbs. Cabernet Sauvignon takes the leading role in this serious second wine from Pichon Baron. This is the first vintage with Cabernet Franc but no Petit Verdot. Production is down a whopping 50%.
