Tasting Notes

Tasting notes
FINE+RARE, Apr 2025

Carménère may only make up 1% of the blend here, but its spicy tones dominate the nose, complemented by dark cassis and leafy hints. The palate is round-textured, full of deep, ripe fruit – pure and bright, tempered by a grainy grip of tannin. Aged in 55% new oak. 13% alcohol and 3.72pH. Blend: 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc, 1% Carménère, 1% Petit Verdot

Notes of sweet cassis, pencil shavings and creamy new oak introduce the 2024 Clerc Milon, a medium-bodied, taut and lively wine built around chalky tannins.

Excellent quality, well defined, you see the grip of the terroir here, and the floral edge of Cabernet and Carmanère, with its spicy side, and beautiful lift. Clearly needs time to full open, this has the cassis, cigar box and leather feel of a great old school Pauillac. Lovely. Harvest 24 September to 6 October. 3.72 pH. 55% new oak.

The 2024 Clerc Milon is packed with blue/purplish fruit, lavender, sage, dried flowers and mocha. Juicy and forward, Clerc Milon has a lot to recommend it. Time in the glass brings out gorgeous Cabernet Sauvignon savoriness to complement the wine's mid-weight structure. Lovely. Tasted two times.
