Tasting Notes
The 2024 Chapelle d’Ausone has an intoxicatingly deep nose of sweet fruit, toast, cocoa and cherry. The palate is both supple and concentrated; there’s a bite of acidity but it’s beautifully integrated with the fresh fruit. Velvet tannins cloak the cherry core, while there’s a savoury intensity to the finish. 12.82% alcohol and 3.47pH. Blend: 85% Cabernet Franc, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon

A unique blend of 85% Cabernet Franc and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2024 Chapelle D'Ausone has a pure, medium-bodied, wonderfully focused, lengthy style that builds nicely with time in the glass. Redcurrants, framboise, sappy spring flowers, and obvious minerality all define the aromatics, and it has nicely integrated acidity, some classy oak, and a great finish.
Deep garnet-purple colored. Needs some patient swirling to see past the cedary overtones, revealing fragrant red currant jelly, raspberry coulis, and pencil shavings notes, leading to hints of rose oil and wild sage. The medium-bodied palate is tight-knit with vibrant red berry flavors and firm, grainy tannins, finishing long and refreshing. Very pretty! All the Merlot went into the Ausone. 6000 bottles only will be made.
Due to poor flowering in the estate's Merlot holdings, the 2024 Chapelle d'Ausone is all-Cabernet this year. Offering up notes of sweet dark berries, mint, rose petals and spices, it's nicely integrated, with a medium-bodied, supple palate underpinned by a tangy spine of acidity.
