The 2014 Châteauneuf du Pape (70% Grenache, 16% Mourvèdre and the rest Syrah, Cinsault and Clairette) is a perfumed, pretty and straightforward effort that has medium-bodied notes of spring flowers, rose garden and wild strawberries. Drink it over the coming 3-5 years

Tasted blind. Smudgy ruby. Ripe, sweet Grenache with quite a bit of gas in here. A salty edge and lighter rather than denser. Polished tannins. An interesting take but a little one-dimensional. (JR)
