Score 87/100 · Drink 2001-2004, Robert Parker, Dec 2001

Renjarde's 2000 Cotes du Rhone-Villages (a blend of 55% Grenache, 25% Syrah, 10% Cinsault, and 10% Carignan, aged completely in tank) is a fat, deliciously fruity, obvious but lush, hedonistic effort with copious quantities of black cherry fruit. Although not complex, it fills the mouth, has a seamless texture, and will provide fine drinking for 2-3 years. Readers seeking excellent values are confronted with a treasure trove of wines such as this from recent vintages in the southern Cotes du Rhone appellations. Importers: Paramount Brands, Port Chester, NY; tel. (914) 937-5007, and Serge Dore Selections, Yorktown Heights, NY; tel. (914) 243-7950
