Pretty and a touch delicate, the 2008 Domaine La Garrigue Vacqueyras shows a brilliant light purple color as well as clean, pure aromas of blackberry and black cherry driven fruit, subtle spice, garrigue and some meaty, saddle leather like notes in the background. These lead into a classy, elegant, medium bodied wine that has clean, perfectly ripe fruit, fresh acidity and a savory, rich texture. Impressive and this is a great effort in a difficult vintage. Given the overall balance and harmony, I think this will age gracefully and should deliver loads of pleasure over the next 8 to 10 years.

Pale straw. Full bodied and lightly honeyed on the nose. A little too heavy for the acidity. Slightly formless without much aroma. Then quite astringent, and rather short. Pretty workmanlike. (JR)
